Museum - Two great galleries to explore.
Glass Roots Gallery

explains the history of glass with artifacts dating back to Ancient Egypt from 3000 years BC. With Glass from all around the world across many centuries, you will see how glass has played a very important part in our everyday life

Earth into Light Gallery

tells the story of what made St. Helens great from its humble beginnings to its rise a world leader in Glass making. But St. Helens isn’t only Glass, there was a thriving coal community. Plus you can find out what the connection is between a cold remedy and classical music.
Ever wondered what life was like in a Victorian town? Step into St Helens past and relive life in the town in the last century.

Glass Blowing

Glassblowing demonstrations times are 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm Tuesday to Saturday. At busy periods we may put more demonstrations on.

Three Screen Film Show

Experience our amazing film which explains why you can't really live with glass film show. It will blow you away!

Victorian Furnace and Underground Tunnels

CURRENTLY CLOSED - Explore the underground tunnels of the worlds first continuous regenerative glass making furnace built in 1887 by William Windle Pilkington.

Manchester Airport Chandelier

Glass & Glamour.....Reminisce about the age of glamour and air travel. Conserved and rehung in 2008 this 2tonne beauty will take your breath away. Manchester Airport chandelier.

Shop, Eat and Relax

Treat yourself with some retail therapy in our Artisan Gift Shop.
And we have a great cafe with delicious home cooked food in St Helens only canal-side cafe.

Schools and Group Visits

For Schools or groups we have some great ideas. Organised groups of all ages can get great rates, including school visits, and The World of Glass is also a popular venue for corporate hospitality, such as award ceremonies, product launches, receptions and other events.
